24 hours in Berlin
Berlin is one of the most exciting cities on the continent, and it’s no surprise that it forms a central part of many Interrail journeys. With the amount of nightlife, culture and history on offer it’s unlikely that 24 hours in Berlin cover everything that you have in mind. But at the very least it’ll be enough to have you planning a return journey soon.
9 AM // Coffee and breakfast
Savour a cup of Berlin’s finest Third Wave coffee
With so many incredible coffee shops around Berlin it’s possible to spend your entire 24 hours drinking java amongst dozens of laptop wielding hipsters. Tempting as it might be, pick one of the best coffee shops as a starting point. Either Westberlin, Bonanza Coffee Heroes, or Café Einstein should have you covered.

Join up with an early morning free walking tour
Berlin is home of the free walking tour, and there’s no better way to get a taste of the city’s most iconic sights and monuments. They run throughout the day, and most will take you to the likes of Brandenburg Gate, the Holocaust Memorial, the site of Hitler’s bunker, Checkpoint Charlie, and the Berlin Wall, with some additional sights included in between.
12:30 PM // Shopping
Check out some of Berlin’s famously creative stores
Even if you’re not a big fan of shopping, Berlin’s stores are well worth a visit. Each neighbourhood has its own charms and unique stores, but there are several worth paying attention to. If possible, check out 14 oz, Firmament, SOTO, Voo Store, Solebox, Civilist, Andreas Murkudis, and No. 74.
1:30 PM // Lunch
Find an eatery in Kreuzberg for lunch

3:00 PM // Flughafen Tempelhof
Travel back in time at a disused airfield
Take a post-lunch break with a visit to Flughafen Tempelhof, a fascinating airfield that’s been converted into a massive park. You can even walk along the runways and wander between abandoned aircrafts. Once you’re done at the park, it might make sense to head back to your accommodation and freshen up, particularly if you’re looking to experience a bit of Berlin’s nightlife.
7:00 PM // Dinner
Dine out at one of Berlin’s popular eateries
There’s no shortage of popular restaurants perfect for dinner in Berlin. Where you end up depends on the location of your hotel. The city’s trendiest restaurants change constantly, so you’d be wise to research online ahead of time and pick one that’s getting the latest rave reviews and is still reasonably priced.
9:00 PM // Berlin nightlife
Get ready for a night on the town
Berlin’s nightlife is world-famous, and there’s no better way to get into the mood than with a few drinks back over in Kreuzberg. There you’ll find a variety of bars that’ll serve you everything from small batch craft brews through to high-end cocktails. Unsure where to head? Start with a stroll down Skalitzer Straße.
11:00 PM // Clubbing
